Frequently asked questions
What is Seaker Sun Co–is it a sunscreen?
Seaker Sun Co is a mineral sun balm handcrafted with non-nano zinc oxide, jojoba oil, beeswax and vitamin E. It is formulated to provide a physical, mineral-based barrier on the skin. We do not make numeric SPF claims because this product has not been submitted for official laboratory SPF testing.
How should I use this balm if I want sun protection?
Use the balm as part of a sun-safe routine: apply liberally to exposed skin, reapply after swimming, towel-drying or heavy sweating, and pair it with other sun-protection measures (hat, UPF clothing, shade during peak hours).
Is Seaker reef-safe and what’s in the formula?
Our formula is intentionally simple and ocean-minded: non-nano zinc oxide, jojoba oil, beeswax, and vitamin E. We do not use oxybenzone or octinoxate. Ingredients are listed on the label in descending order.
Can I use this on my face and on sensitive skin?
Yes–the balm is crafted to be gentle, and jojoba oil is close to skin’s natural sebum. Still, if you have sensitive or reactive skin, please patch test a small area (inner forearm) for 24 hours before broader use. If you experience irritation, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider.
Why don’t you list an SPF, and is this product FDA-approved?
This product is sold as a cosmetic balm and has not been evaluated by the FDA for SPF. Because we haven’t completed official in-vivo testing, we cannot legally state an SPF number or claim to prevent sunburn or skin cancer.
