Seaker Sun Co is a small-batch mineral sun care brand founded in Laguna Beach, California. We make one product: a reef-safe sun balm built from four ingredients: non-nano zinc oxide, beeswax, jojoba oil, and vitamin E.
Who We Are
Seaker was founded by Will Goodwin and Euan Latimer, who met at high school in Laguna Beach, CA. Growing up surfing, diving, hiking, and biking along the Southern California coast, they skipped sun protection entirely, put off by harmful chemical filters and ingredient lists that ran 20+ items long. In college, they decided to do something about it.
So we went back to basics. Seaker is what we actually want to exist.
We produce in small batches in Laguna Beach, CA. Every tin is hand-poured.

A solid, reef-safe balm in a reusable 2oz metal tin. No plastic. No fillers. Nothing you can't pronounce.
Ingredients: Non-nano zinc oxide, beeswax, jojoba oil, vitamin E
What it is: A mineral skin barrier for daily outdoor use. Zinc oxide sits on top of the skin and physically reflects UV rather than absorbing it chemically, the same mechanism used in traditional mineral sunscreens.
What it isn't: A lab-certified SPF product. We don't carry an FDA SPF rating. If you need a certified number for work or medical reasons, this isn't that. If you want clean, simple mineral protection for everyday adventures, this is exactly that.

How to use: The balm is hard on purchase. Break it up with your thumb, warm between fingers, apply as a thin layer. A little goes a long way.

Why Reef-Safe Matters
"Reef-safe" is not a regulated term. We use it to mean: our formula contains no oxybenzone or octinoxate, two chemical UV filters that have been linked to coral bleaching and are banned in Hawaii, Palau, and other reef-protection jurisdictions. Our formula uses non-nano zinc oxide instead, with particles large enough that they don't penetrate coral tissue.
Why Mineral vs. Chemical
Chemical sunscreens work by absorbing UV radiation and converting it to heat through a chemical reaction in the skin. Mineral sunscreens (like ours) work by physically reflecting UV off the skin's surface using zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Zinc oxide provides broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection. We use only zinc oxide, no titanium dioxide, no chemical filters.

Is it non-nano?
Yes. Non-nano zinc oxide particles are larger than 100 nanometers, which means they don't penetrate the skin or coral tissue the way nano-sized particles can. This is the safer choice for both skin health and reef ecosystems.
How does it compare to other reef-safe sunscreens?
Most "reef-safe" products on the market still contain 10-20+ ingredients, synthetic preservatives, or come in plastic packaging. Seaker has four ingredients, no synthetics, and ships in a metal tin. The tradeoff is no certified SPF rating, but the mechanism (non-nano zinc oxide) is the same one used in premium mineral SPF products.
